David Lloyd George - always in the news!

David Lloyd George and members of the wartime coalition cabinet in 1916

He may have ceased being prime minister in 1922 and died in 1945 but the lessons of David Lloyd George's career have not stopped being relevant to politicians, writers and commentators today. As mentioned in our previous story, a new single volume biography of Lloyd George by Roy Hattersley will be published in September. But today's Guardian newspaper has featured some commentary on LG in their "....In praise of.." column.

As you might suppose the Guardian piece is a salutary lesson to Nick Clegg on the risks of coalition with the Tories and the dangers to progressive politics they suggest that such a coalition poses. It's always worth reading any article about the great man however and you can see the piece at: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/aug/31/in-praise-of-david-lloyd-george
