Two events celebrating Lloyd George in London this spring

The Lloyd George Society is pleased to help publicise two events celebrating the life of David Lloyd George and his family which are taking place soon at The Welsh Church of Central London (Eglwys Gymraeg Canol Llundain) in Eastcastle Street near Oxford Circus where the great man was a regular member and preacher, and where the wedding of his daughter, Lady Olwen also took place.
The first event will take place at 2pm on the afternoon of Saturday 7 May and will be a talk entitled “Lloyd George Knew My Father – and my Grandfather!” – an interesting insight into the family life of Lloyd George given by his great nephew, Phillip George of Criccieth.
The second event will be the church’s annual flower service (Gwyl y Blodau) on Sunday the 19 June. Each year the church is decorated with vast amounts of flowers. This is known as the annual “Lloyd George Sunday”, when historically, Lloyd George would preach to a packed church. Since his death, the tradition as continued with visiting ministers from Wales and other prominent political figures being invited to address.

We hope these occasions will be of interest to Society members.
The church is located at:
