After this year’s really successful Weekend, which included a change of venue, we’re pleased to announce that the Lloyd George Society will be heading back to the Lake Country House & Spa in Llangammarch Wells.
As you can see in the photo above, the hotel is in a stunning location, and we’ll have it all to ourselves. The hotel is on the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (formerly known as the Brecon Beacons), just a stone’s throw away from Builth Wells.
We are just finalising the speakers, but a little birdy (ok, our Chair, Prof. Russell Deacon) has told me that we can expect a range of topics.
These include topical talks on Ukraine (Alun Davies), an analysis of the 2026 Senedd Election (Dr Jonathan Kirkup) and a TBC roundtable discussion (Cllr Bill Powell).
Historical talks will be just as diverse: The Welsh Gold King Pritchard Morgan (Norena Shopland), the Founding of England (Prof. David Woodman) and the life of Emily, Countess Cowper (Jehanne and Katie Wake).
Also, what would a Lloyd George Society Weekend be without at least one talk on the man (J.M. Staniforth & Lloyd George by Doug Smith)? We might even push the boat out and have two talks! Watch this space!
On top of that, the hotel is lovely, with fantastic food and attentive staff.
The date? Ah yes, it is…
The weekend of 27th & 28th February 2027.
Save it now! Block off your calendar!!!
If you want to arrive early, namely Friday 26th February, you might even get to enjoy my company at dinner!
Further details to be announced soon.
Don’t miss the chance to catch up with old friends, make new friends and have a weekend to remember!
