Judith Lewis died on 18 June 2022 at the University of Wales Hospital in Cardiff after a brave struggle with a debilitating illness. Her funeral will be held at Cardiff and Glamorgan Crematorium, Port Road East, Barry on Monday 11 July at 1.00pm. Judi played a prominent part in Welsh Liberal and Lib Dem politics. From 1973-1992 she was personal assistant to Geraint Howells, MP for Ceredigion under its various names from 1974-1992. She served as election agent in Ceredigion on five successful occasions and served as party manager to the Welsh Liberal Democrats before retirement. Judi was one of the group of Liberals and Social Democrats who founded the Lloyd George Society as the successor organisation to the Welsh Liberal Weekend Schools in 1985, along with Winston Roddick, Roger Pincham, Lord Hooson, Tom Ellis, Sir Maldwyn Thomas and our current president, Martin Thomas.
We wish to pass on the condolences of the Lloyd George Society to Judith’s family and friends and hope to feature a further memorial to Judi Lewis at a later date.
