Visitors to the the website will remember from an earlier article that there was a sale of Lloyd George memorabilia, consisting of documents and photographs, taking place at Dreweatts Auctions in Bloomsbury on Thursday 23 March. The items going under the hammer were from the private collection of the family of Frances Stevenson, Countess Lloyd George of Dwyfor.
The Society is pleased to report that many of the lots have been secured for the nation by the National Library of Wales based in Aberystwyth. These lots include: typed and printed material related to Frances Stevenson and David Lloyd George; a War memorandum, partly in the hand of Lloyd George and Frances Stevenson; a collection of cards and letters exchanged by David Lloyd George and Jennifer Longford as a child; Versailles conference letters; adoption letters; a letter from Stanley Baldwin and many photographs.
The Library hopes to have the items within a few weeks and they will be a useful addition to the Lloyd George papers kept in the Welsh Political Archive there.
