Come and join us at the next weekend school – 14/15 February 2015

The next Society weekend school will be held at the Hotel Commodore, Llandrindod Wells, on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February 2015. The programme is nearly complete and contains the usual good mix of history, politics and debate. Our after dinner speaker on Saturday evening is Mayor Dorothy Thornhill, three times elected Mayor of Watford.
One of the highlights of the programme should be a talk by the actor Mark Lewis Jones about playing the part of David Lloyd George in the TV drama “37 Days”.
Among the impressive line-up of other speakers will be: Dr Iain Sharpe on , Dr Alun Wyburn-Powell on and how he changed Liberal history, Professor Derec Llwyd Morgan on Jane Dodds on and Michael Meadowcroft on local government and devolution.
2015 is of course general election year and instead of a debate on Sunday morning we will have Dr Jonathan Kirkup from Cardiff University giving an analysis of the prospects for all the political parties in the run-up to the general election. We hope this will lead nicely into our usual panel session of politicians, led by Roger Williams MP.
The hotel has kindly agreed to make only modest price increases for the school from those we paid in 2014, so the cost of your weekend in glorious mid-Wales is still remarkable value for money.
