In a move which has been characterised as extremely short-sighted, Gwynedd Council have decided to cease funding the Lloyd George Museum and boyhood home in Llanystumdwy. The decision still needs to pass the Cabinet and Full Council but they are expected to confirm the funding cut. The result of the cut will almost certainly mean the Museum will have to close. The Council owns the museum building and the boyhood home but no plans have been announced concerning the future of the properties, or what will happen to the museum exhibits and artefacts.
The Society has been asked by the Friends of the Museum to lodge a formal objection to the Council and we will be considering how to respond. In the meantime any member who wishes to protest this decision is encouraged to write to the Chief Executive of Gywnedd Council.
