John Grigg’s biography of Lloyd George recommended as one the best five books about British prime ministers

Anthony Seldon, biographer of Tony Blair, is an authority on contemporary British history and headmaster of Wellington College, one of Britain's most famous independent schools. He was a co-founder and first director of the Institute of Contemporary British History and the author or editor of over 25 books on contemporary history, politics and education. Now, in an interview with online book reviewers The Browser, Seldon has chosen John Grigg's four volume biography of Lloyd George as one the five best biographies in the field.
"It's their frailty that makes politicians such interesting characters", says Dr Seldon. In the interview he tells us about the art of political biography and the writers who've best captured leaders such as Churchill and Thatcher. He recommends Lloyd George by John Grigg as one of the five top biographies pf prime ministers. According to Seldon, Grigg (whose father Edward Grigg was a close associate of LG becoming his private secretary in 1920) had this real insider's understanding of politics, which is what makes him such a good biographer.
